Setting Up An Allotment Project - Thursday 15 November, Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, Leeds - Tutor Bethan Stagg
Are you planning to set up a project on an allotment site? You may be working with schools, promoting healthy eating, or be a social service or training provider, for example. This very popular event will help to get you started. It will introduce legal and other essential information, health and safety and risk assessments related to allotments, choosing the right plot and planning a design, working out equipment needs from shed to spade, look at costs, grants and fundraising, and provide tips on keeping the project going, come rain or shine. An in-depth handbook is provided as part of the course.

Food for Life partnership Stakeholders Meeting - Wednesday 5th September at Government Office, Leeds.
The Food for Life Partnership is a five-year Lottery-funded initiative, led by the soil association, to transform food culture in schools and communities across England, bringing together the practical expertise of the Focus on Food Campaign, Garden Organic and the Health Education Trust.
The Food for Life Partnership will select 180 flagship schools (20 in every region in England) that are willing to go through a rapid process of food culture transformation and share their learning with other schools and communities. Flagship schools will be chosen to reflect a diverse range of community and school situations. Please see the attached flyer for information on how to get involved in the Food for Life Partnership, and please feel free to distribute this flyer to schools and communities as appropriate.
All interested schools and communities in Yorkshire and the Humber must express interest via the attached short form by the 28th September 2007, or soon after this.
